The goal of our eco-village:

• A "rich" life in a self-supporting ecological setting in which both young and old will feel at home.
• A community in which friendship is most important.
• Openness, respect, and sincere mutual interest are essential values.
• A community in which everybody is equal (not the same) and in which every person is dedicated to do his best, according to individual ability, at an individual pace, regarding the individual field of interest.
• Individual gain is not our goal/aim.
• An economic system which is durable, which is involved in society, and which is friendly to the environment.
• Ecology is more important than economy. The economic structure is to serve us and our community, and should neither damage people nor the natural surroundings.
• We will learn new ways in the field of living together. Especially in the initial phase we must be willing to learn. We will live and learn as we go. We will be open to one another and appreciate one anothers differences. However, this growth should never become a goal itself, must never become obsessive or dogmatic.
• We will be self-supporting in supplying our own food as much as possible, by means of (among other things) our own permaculture, and supplying our own "green" energy. We will also be self-supporting by means of a bakery, a butchers shop, a carpenters workshop, a pottery, an oil-mill, bee keeping, etc.
• A community which generates its income from tourism, from the selling of agricultural produce, and from any other economic means introduced or developed by people in our village, esp. by people with specific skills or interests.
• The ideal place for our village is one with a pleasant climate, sufficient rain, fertile soil, being an attractive place for tourists to visit.
• We are neither a sect nor a cult. We do not want to seclude ourselves from the rest of the world.
• We are a community with much respect for, and a close co-operation with the local residents.
• We are involved in at least one Third World project.
• Each person within the village keeps his/her privacy and individual autonomy (as long as these do not contradict the covenant that the people of our village wrote and adopted). We will be neighbours, not housemates. We will respect each others desire to spend time alone or in ones own house. It is only by allowing privacy that we can dedicate ourselves to one another and help one another. Reflecting together, working together and celebrating together will strengthen our relationships.

What does all this mean in practical ways?

Our goal is the establishment of
a social community, The participants have respect for and are interested in one another, they support and care for one another.

which is self-supporting,
The community supplies itself with the things that are necessary for a durable living, such as housing, food, recreation, etc. Complete self-support is impossible and unnecessary. It is not feasible to want to provide either specialistic medical care or futilities such as ink or can- openers ourselves. This means that the community will need to generate financial means as well, in order to be able to buy or exchange goods outside our village.

of about 100-150 participants,
This number of people is enough to be able to efficiently divide the work that needs to be done if we want to be self-supporting. Self-supporting individuals and/or small groups lead a toiling and moiling existence. A community of this many people however is big enough to provide various skills and talents, which makes the group as a whole inventive and strong, yet keeps it small enough to remain involved with one another and with the group as a whole. functioning on an ecological basis.
The community produces and consumes products in a way that protects nature in general and our surroundings in particular.
Resources and raw materials will not be used and exhausted, but reused and recycled as much as possible.
